When we talk about Argentine food we’re talking about steak, right? Well, yes and no. While Argentine beef must be the most sublime on the planet, there’s a lot more to la cocina Argentina than that. And Gaucho is the perfect place in Dubai to prove that and to try authentic Argentinian cooking.
Located in the centre of DIFC, Gaucho Dubai is a part of the incredibly successful group of restaurants with famous locations all around London, one in both Leeds and Manchester, and ones in Buenos Aires and Hong Kong.
Upon entering the dining room one is immediately struck by its luxurious iconic decor. It features opulent black and white leather furniture, cowhide, marble and glass interiors. Apart from stylish dining area and bar, Gaucho has an option to dine al fresco on its spacious yet cosy terrace.
Gaucho is all about prime, pampas-reared Argentinian beef, with various cuts paraded round for inspection before you order. Your waiter will take you through the various different cuts of beef on offer (Lomo, Ancho, Cuadril etc.) so you order the cut best suited to you.
Apart from the famous steaks, Gaucho will evoke the essence of Argentinian cooking, by offering a wide range of classic South American recipes such as salmon ceviche, cheese and chicken empanadas, seafood and beef variations.
While it’s true that beef is the star on the menu, Gaucho offers quite a few tantalizing vegetarian menu options, which are absolutely amazing. You definitely don’t have to order steak to enjoy a dinner or lunch at Gaucho – their burrata salad is one of the best in town! Oh, and not to mention oven baked gnocchi – it is a crime to leave Gaucho without trying it.
It’s hard to resist a meat-binge when steaks are offered up to 500g and beyond, but save room for one of the greatest foodstuffs known to man: dulce de leche fondant.
A strong wine list celebrates Argentina’s unrivalled growing regions. Well-detailed and divided by grape variety, the Malbec section is the most extensive and, no doubt, the most popular. Luckily, our sommelier was so knowledgeable that we didn’t have to choose – all the offered wines were perfectly paired with the dishes.
In terms of food, service and atmosphere, Gaucho is a really great place to eat some fantastic Argentinian food and drink brilliant wine. Totally recommended!
